Beginner sedation nurse course overview

  • comprehensive one day course covering everything a new sedation nurse needs for the theory element of being a sedation nurse.
  • after this course the nurse will be legally allowed to act as the sedation nurse / second appropriate person following 20 cases being 'signed off' by an approved supervisor. If your sedation dentist is suitably experienced, they can apply to the Yorkshire Sedation Training to be a supervisor and sign off your first 20 cases in practice.
  • The 20 cases can be completed within your own practice as long as they are signed off by your approved supervisor
  • New sedation nurses cannot legally work as sedation nurses unless they are either qualified to do so or in training on an IACSD approved course such as ours after first contacting us to discuss being affiliated to Yorkshire Sedation Training as a supervisor
  • Dentists wishing to become approved supervisors MUST have attended our course and apply to us directly for approval.
  • In order to pass the course, nurses must submit their portfolio of 20 signed off cases for us to review and take a telephone exam based upon the portfolio of cases.
